Handmade beautiful Live Edge Black Walnut serving board

All items are conditioned and sealed with food safe natural oils and waxes

This board is the epitome of live edge, as it's measurements shift from point to point

Length (Serving Area + Handle)(inches): 24

Length and Width (Serving Area)(Inches): ~14 3/4 x ~13 1/2

This board is truly 1 of 1. The hole by the handle was created when the natural knot fell out during the milling process, and what better way to amplify a live edge board, than to incorporate any natural inclusions.

All live edge items are created from single slabs of wood - there is no joinery or combining of different cuts. This allows us to keep and focus on the unique and indivdual patterns that each slab of wood has

Live Edge: Live-edge defines the unfinished edge of the woodwork. It is the periphery of wood not altered by hand tools or woodworking machinery. As a result, the untouched end of slabs and furniture retains the original characteristics of a tree; its shape, and bark. Rather than the sharp, clean lines in more traditional wooden furniture, live edge retains the natural beauty of the tree

Disclaimer: Proper care, board maintenance, and storage will improve the longevity of your board. Wood has a tendancy to want to "move and shift". Storage in a properly dry place with love moisture will prevent warping or cracking. Additional upkeep such as board oil/wax will keep the wood in great condition

  • WASHING:

Wash your board with water (soap is fine too), including the underside and edges, removing anything that’s stuck to it with a lint-free rag. Most people only wash the top, and that actually ends up hurting the board. When moisture reacts with grain, it swells, and if the swelling isn’t uniform, it can warp the board. A rocking board usually means that only one side was washed. Then, wipe down the board and let it dry thoroughly with proper airflow

    OILING:

Realistically, this should be done approximately once a month. Apply a generous layer of mineral oil to the sides, top, bottom, and any groove, grip, or handle. You don’t need puddles of oil on your board, just enough to cover the wood with an even coat. Like a hungover coworker on a Wednesday morning, the wood needs hydration. Let the oil soak into the board for at least three hours, making sure the board has proper airflow on all sides

    WAXING:

After the oil, apply the wax directly to the wood and spread the cream over the entire board, making sure to get in every nook and cranny. The cream is greasy, so if you don’t want to get it all over your hands, apply it with a lint-free microfiber cloth. Once you’ve covered the whole piece of wood, you’ve created a barrier to help the wood retain moisture. Again, make sure the board has proper airflow on all sides.
